Tony Arco is one of the most esteemed Italian jazz drummers. He spent several years in the U.S. studying with great drummers like Gary Chaffee, Alan Dawson and Bob Moses, and more recently has worked with Dave Weckl and Bruce Becker on concepts by Freddie Gruber. Great musicians such as Dave Liebman, Andrew Hill, Max Roach and Hank Jones have spoken highly of his playing. He is a sought-after teacher and his methods are generally considered an invaluable source of reference for students.
He is involved in top-level artistic projects in Italy and internationally. Concert performances to date include playing with: Mark Murphy, Bobby Watson, Kenny Barron, Charles Tolliver, Tony Scott, Dave Liebman, James Newton, Carl Anderson, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Marcus Stockhausen, David Murray, Eddie Daniels, Joe Diorio, Evan Parker, Billy Cobham, Airto Moreira, Phil Markowitz, Sonny Fortune, Roy Hargrove, John Medesky, George Garzone, Emil Richards, Bob Mintzer and Kenny Wheeler. As co-leader of the Cues Trio with Roberto Tarenzi, he recorded "Introducing Cues Trio", and "Feel: Cues Trio meets Dave Liebman".
He has recorded two CDs as a leader with the Time Percussion group: "A Journey Within", and Time Percussion with Franco D'Andrea "Live at Iseo Jazz Festival", as well as "It's About Time" with his own Tony Arco Quartet.
